Glass materials are air classified according to size or density. Air classification provides the most effective means for separating the product from a feed stream, for dedusting, or when used in conjunction with grinding equipment for increasing productivity.
Glass materials can be reduced in particle size with Sturtevant’s crushers or jet mills. The crushers are best-suited for controlling the reduction of friable materials to granules where fines are undesirable. Crushers also reduce particle size for fine grinding to coarse crushing capabilities. Jet mills use a unique fluid energy grinding system generating particle-on-particle impact and classifies powders in a single operation.
Glass is typical made by silicates fusing with boric oxide, aluminum oxide, or phosphorus pentoxide, silica sand, glass cullet’s, fiberglass powders and glass powders are a few examples of glass materials.
